White Chocolate Cups: Soft white chocolate mousse with fresh strawberry |
This mousse can be an answer, it's very EASY to make and doesn't use a lot of your precious time (ok, admit that now you have to concentrate on you look, the big day is tomorrow, haha). You can prepare it by using only 20-30 minutes and you can see how cute it is.
But cute is not the only quality of this dessert it's very delicious too. This mousse is so soft and really melt in your mouth, it doesn't contain gelatin, so the texture is soft and velvety. My sister (who is my tester, hehe), told me that she just want to try a bit of it but end up eating the whole cup, she said that it didn't make her feel like eating anything heavy at all ^^. I think it's because the softness that make eating enjoyable and the refreshing taste of the strawberry that turn this simple dessert into something special. Actually you can use other kinds of fruit but for me, what can be more lovely than the cute strawberry heart, haha.
White Chocolate Cups:
Soft chocolate mousse with fresh strawberry
Serves 3-4 (depend on the size of the cup that you use)
1 ....................................... Egg
1 ....................................... Egg yolk
2tbsp ............................... Icing sugar
200ml ............................. Whipping cream
.......................................... Fresh strawberries, for serving
Melt the white chocolate by putting the chocolate in a bowl and place the bowl over the bowl of hot water (don't let the water touch the bowl).
When chocolate melt stir in the egg and egg yolk.
Whip the whipping cream with icing sugar until soft peaks form.
Fold 1/3 of whipped cream into the white chocolate mixture, then fold the chocolate mixture back into the whipped cream bowl.
Pour into the cups and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Cut the strawberry into heart shape ^^, if you want to.
Put the strawberry on top of the mousse and serve with a smile.

Hi, Claire
You will need to melt it 2-3times. Heat it for 20 second then stir it, heat again until all of the chocolate melt.
wow even your strawberries are heart shapes! have a happy valentines pook :)
ReplyDeletehi!
ReplyDeletesorry for asking a simple question. What's the reason for not letting the hot water touch the bowl of white chocs? Will it take very long for the chocs to melt if the bowl is not in contact with the water? Thanks!
Wen
Hi, Janine
ReplyDeleteThank you, Happy Valentine too
Hi, Wen
The reason is the air will condense into water, and small amount of water cause the chocolate to turn hard and grainy or "seize".
I love eating strawberries with vanilla yogurt or vanilla ice cream. So good!
ReplyDeleteHi, I tried making the mousse using your recipe today but the mousse did not "set" and remain as liquid even after I have refrigerated it for a few hours. Is it suppose to be like this? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThis one is very soft, as there is no thickening agent in the mousse, it will firmer after 12 hours.
