It may be strange that this time my pound cake made by using Panasonic automatic bread maker (SD-P104). I think that making bread using bread maker is simple thing (well, most of us buy bread maker for making bread, right?), and when you can make good bread with it the other function is an extra ^^.
I love the fact that we don't need an oven to bake a cake if we have this bread maker. You can use it to bake simple and delicious pound cake (anyway, the light texture cake such as sponge cake or chiffon can't be baked in this machine). But I think it's the answer for anyone who love to make simple thing at home but don't want to buy a lot of equipment. Because with this bread maker you can make simple white bread and stuffed bread (I made Cinnamon nut buns using this machine) and you can use it for making cake too.
The step for making the cake is easy, pour all the ingredients into the pan and press start, after 12 minutes, use a spatula to clean the residual flour, close the lid, press start and waiting for intoxicated home made pound cake aroma.
The texture of cake is dense with fine crumbs, the ideal pound cake for some people. Serve it on it own or with sweetened whipped cream and a cup of tea, a perfect tea time treat.

Pound Cake
170g .............................. Unsalted butter, soft and cut into small pieces
100g .............................. Granulated sugar
50g ................................. Milk
120g ............................... Egg (about 2), beat to combine
1/2tsp ............................ Salt
1/2tsp ............................ Vanilla extract
1/2tsp ............................ Vanilla bean paste (optional)
170g ................................ Cake flour
2tsp ................................. Baking powder
Install blade in the bread pan.
Sift the flour, salt and baking powder together, put the mixture into the pan with sugar, vanilla extract, vanilla bean paste and butter.
Beat the egg and milk together and pour into the pan.
Select Menu 12 (Cake) and press start.
After 12 minutes, when the beep sounds are heard.
Open the lid and use rubber spatula to clean the residual flour around the pan.
Close the lid and press start.
Take the cake out of the pan when the beep sounds are heard. Remove from the pan and let the cake cool on a wire rack.
